Sacred Places/Civic Spaces is a partnership between the Community Design Collaborative and Partners for Sacred Places, with major support from the William Penn Foundation. The initiative will re-envision underutilized, purpose-built religious properties as community hubs. Its projects and programs will bring together design professionals, for-profit and non-profit developers, faith-based communities, community members, public officials, policy makers, and the design community. A key component of this proactive community-engaged design is a Design Challenge. More than 10,000 individuals will be directly engaged in or influenced by the initiative. Promotion through traditional, electronic, and social media, will reach a combined audience of over 50,000. Place matters. Sacred Places/Civic Spaces is a local effort with national visibility.
